Policy scholarship gets stronger when it’s in direct conversation with the people doing the work. The Center brings together researchers, students, and practitioners who share a commitment to democratic principles. We “bring the outside in” to GSPP, closing the distance between the community and the classroom. The result is a policy process that is more democratic, where scholars and practitioners tackle the same problems side by side and diverse voices help shape public policy.
Democracy Policy Fellowship
This Democracy Policy Fellowship is a groundbreaking initiative that brings together eight exceptional community leaders from across California to bridge the gap between practice and academia. Fellows collaborate with UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP)’s network to advance bold, impactful ideas that strengthen democracy in California. Each Fellow is nominated for their role as a catalyst for change in a wide range of fields—all united by a shared commitment to strengthening democracy.
