Community-Engaged Democracy

The Center serves as a hub to unite a wide array of affiliates dedicated to researching and teaching democratic principles—and doing so in collaboration with the practitioners that are putting these principles into action. We seek to “bring the outside in” to GSPP by connecting this vibrant community of learning and practice.

Training Current & Future Leaders

Through fellowships, courses, and collaborative research, CCDE prepares students and practitioners to lead with integrity and inclusivity. We cultivate leaders who can navigate contentious discussions, build consensus, and advance evidence‑based solutions to pressing public challenges.

Dialogue Across Difference

A healthy democracy depends on the ability to listen, debate, and collaborate across divides. CCDE equips leaders with skills in civil discourse, constructive dialogue, and conflict transformation, fostering environments where differences become opportunities for problem‑solving rather than barriers to progress.
