Ava Mehta

Ava Mehta ('15) is pursuing a major in Political Science and a minor in English at the University of California, Berkeley. Having lived and studied in Asia and Europe, Ava is excited to channel her passion for politics towards a focused study of the American legal system. She is particularly committed to understanding the influence of private practice on legislative advocacy and policy reform. As a participant in the UCDC program, Ava is interning at the law firm Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca, LLP where she will apply her skills in advocacy and debate to complex litigation in antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and government regulation.  On campus, Ava works to defend students in their grievances with the university as a caseworker in the Student Advocate’s Office, an executive branch of student government. She is also the co-director of the Berkeley Chamber Ensemble. Read her story.
