Mai Thao She / Her

Mai Thao is the Executive Director of MOVE The Valley, where she leads a multilingual, multiethnic coalition working to expand political power for historically disenfranchised and working-class communities across California's San Joaquin Valley. A proud daughter of Hmong refugees and lifelong Fresno resident, Mai brings more than two decades of experience in community organizing, civic engagement, and public sector leadership. Throughout her career, she has advanced inclusive democracy through roles with the California Department of Justice, the Governor's California Complete Count 2020 Census initiative, Hmong Innovating Politics, and SEIU Local 521, while also leading regional voter engagement efforts that have reached thousands of historically underrepresented voters. Mai earned a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley with a double major in Ethnic Studies and Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies.
